Simon’s is a restaurant booking built around recurring live jazz, especially the kind of relaxed evening set that can sit naturally alongside dinner service. This is a room for players who can hold attention without taking over the entire space; a tasteful jazz combo or similarly restrained act fits better than a high-volume club show.

Venue review
The musician's read
East Village cocktail and listening lounge with jazz nights plus DJ-led R&B, hip-hop, jazz and funk programming. For working artists, the venue’s established use includes jazz nights/listening-lounge programming; full-band production not established. The venue’s live-music mix covers Jazz, R&B, Hip-hop, Funk, Lounge, providing a useful reference point for bands and solo performers considering the room. Because the space already presents live performers, artists can assess it as an active music destination rather than a general room with no performance history. The Contrary is located at 503 E Locust St, Des Moines, IA 50309. Age access is event-dependent. Artists evaluating the space should focus on how closely their show format matches the venue’s existing live-music pattern, since that is the clearest indicator of fit available here. For performers building a routing plan, the venue’s established live-music activity provides a concrete reason to consider it alongside other active rooms in the market.

Read the whole thingThe Ingersoll is a restored 212-seat Des Moines dinner theater combining dining with concerts, theater and comedy. The all-ages room rewards artists who can deliver a polished, self-contained show for a seated audience rather than a loose bar set. Jazz, blues, soul, tribute and theatrical music acts should be especially well matched to the intimate production format.
