Venue review
The musician's read
Westport Flea Market Bar & Grill is a working food-and-drink room with live music Friday and Sunday nights from 8 to 11 p.m.; Saturday belongs to karaoke, because civilization needs scheduled chaos too. The public review excerpts are about burgers, onion rings, and handmade dishes. That makes the gig less “command a darkened room into spiritual silence” and more “give a packed bar something tasty for the ears while the kitchen does its own percussion section.” The practical facts are unusually clear. The room normally books four to five months ahead, pays a flat $150 guarantee, and requires performers to provide their sound system and all necessary gear. That is a compact deal. It suits a self-contained solo act, duo, or tight band that can load in efficiently, set up a dependable PA, and make the math work without discovering at midnight that the enterprise was funded by optimism and a parking-meter receipt. Advance the details that are not listed: stage or floor location, power availability, PA limits, monitors, microphones, load-in route, parking, soundcheck window, break format, merchandise space, meal or drink arrangement, and payment timing. The booking route includes an evening phone option in addition to the listed contact method; use the venue’s current preferred channel and keep the ask concise. This is a regular, food-forward bar date with fixed money and an established schedule. Bring a lean rig, a punchy set, and enough good songs to compete politely with a burger that apparently has its own fan club.
